8:07 pm - Alien fleets are coming to Earth.
the_real_eris

In less then 6 months a whole bunch of ships is going to labnd on earth from Alpha-Z or maybe some other planet, populated by greys/Saurians. Reptilian, some nords (lots of them) and odd Martian or two (very odd) are all part of one conspiracy. Jihad seems to be the hand of the whole plot, they are going to weaken us emotionally and spiritually and prepare for beign enslaved by aliens.

Most of the grey aliens are goign to disguise themselves as humans, except when feeding, and pose as Christians, priests and teachers. They already have worked out a very complicated and detailed plan, it is scary how vcarefully orchestrated and rehearsed the whole thign is.

The scary thign is they are gonna be here in less than 6 months, and no one on earth knows about it or believes that it is gonna happen (this+ slavery, degradation, being killed and devoured the way abducted cows are, being cruelly tortured - greys are incredibly sadistic). And the space lizards are counting on us not knowing about them, not talking between each another about them, and being nice and obedient to them when they arrive. That's why I think we should global terrorist-attack idicator to code orange or code red and talk about it, and maybe petition US government to destroy all alien labs on Earth and in US, and end contracts which allow greys to visit earth and occasionally collect experimental material.

there's a text on sacred-texts.com, under ufo, forward slash "conspire.htm"

also, to see what the kizards have been up to between themselves the live journal name of their community is unitarian_jihad .

Please don't just sleep, do something!

P>S. Also, they might blow up continent of America if they manage to lay their hands on the necessary stuff.

12:05 am - Atriarch House of Commons on May 15th

micahellison
A newspost I just made on Atriarch Stratics:

On Wednesday, May 15th, at 9 PM EST (-05:00), World Fusion, the developers of Atriarch, will have a live House of Commons (HoC) chat with fans on the Stratics network. The theme for this next week's HoC is going to be Construction and Housing.

For those of you that aren't familiar with HoCs: A House of Commons is a moderated chat session between players and developers. It's hosted by the Stratics staff, who will be taking questions (asked by the players live) and presenting them to the Atriarch developers. The developers will then answer them, or at least make a statement on them.

Use your favorite IRC client (most people like to use the mIRC chat program) and connect to one of the following servers:
- irc.stratics.dhp.com USA - Pennsylvania
- irc.frws.com USA - Colorado
- coldfront.gamers-irc.org USA - Oklahoma
- irc.truefear.net USA Texas
- irc.stratics.com / irc.gamers-irc.org (re-routing to one of the above servers)
I would suggest coming a bit early - it'll allow you to spend some time thinking of the "best" questions, and give you a chance to ask your questions earlier. Also, the pre-HoC discussions are almost always incredibly interesting, as are the post-HoC discussions, so stick around, too!

Finally, the latest GameSpy dev journal has been posted by Serafina! My favorite little excerpt:
Having completely controlled environments is not necessarily a bad thing. TV is controlled. I watch a lot of it and enjoy it. Disneyland is a controlled environment, and I enjoy going there. However, I would never consider these "worlds" because I have zero effect on them. The same goes for games and online worlds. If there is no way for a player to contribute or alter the world directly in-game, either through player-content or through politics or story or actions or whatever, then it is not a world. It may be a game, but it isn't a world... not really. If players can't influence what is going on in the world, then they are just visitors, bystanders, not citizens and definitely not partners -- at least that is my perspective.

I <3 Serafina:

Beta will be coming out soon.

Translation:

beta = refers to testing by people other than the internal testing done by the Atriarch team (does not mean feature complete)

will = implies future, but with certainty

be = implies at some level it already exists

coming = I'm going to pass on this one... too many flip remarks passing through my mind to type them all out coherently at once.

out = not in

soon = a word that I use interchangably with "I'm not sure exactly when, but we are working our asses off to make it as soon as possible. If someone gives us a lot of money, we'll be able to give you dates with certainty. Until then, we continue to move steadily forward, but unfortunately, not lighting speed. Know that we do keep in mind all the people who are waiting for Atriarch, and we are working hard to make sure Atriarch is a fun game."

10:18 pm - Atriarch art, GDC plug, and Stratics downtime

    micahellison
I just posted this in Atriarch Stratics, so I figured I'd repost it here for the massive LiveJournal Atriarch community following (*snicker*):

Well, I haven't been able to post news for a few days, so one thing at a time:

    MO makes developer comments

MO, Atriarch's head artist, posted some developer comments on Atriarch.com a few days ago. One of the most interesting points to me was that as Arc improves the engine, MO is given more slack with the amount of polygons he can use in his three dimensional art. Go read the rest at www.atriarch.com!

Atriarch gets more attention due to GDC

IGN Vault's GDC 2002 Report has a "highly positive account" of seeing Atriarch live. It stated that the most interesting part was the building process. Jonric, the author, also expressed his hopes that Atriarch will find a publisher due to GDC. Maybe it will!

Stratics network went through some downtime

As I'm sure most of you regular news readers have noticed, the Stratics network sustained some outages over the past week. In fact, none of us have been able to even post news since last Thursday. Nonetheless, Jhariden (the head Stratics guy) has stated that the problem is resolved, though he's looking for a new host.

In other Stratics news, our message boards have been upgraded! Enjoy the new features, nifty smileys, and slightly altered GUIs!

Finally, I just talked to Serafina on IRC. She told me and the guys in #atriarch that she's considering releasing the community calendar. However, she may not, since everyone will know if they "screw up and don't make it" on time. Have an opinion about this, or want to convince them otherwise? Then post on our boards! World Fusion actually reads them, believe it or not!

9:33 pm - Atriarch team heads to Game Developer's Conference

    micahellison
World Fusion updated their site today, stating that they will be attending the yearly Game Developer's Conference at San Jose, California this week. Last year, Christopher "Arc" Thames, Chief Architect of Atriarch, spoke at the GDC on the topic of server load issues for MMOGs.

If you're going to be attending the GDC and want to see Atriarch live, the good folks at World Fusion ask that you drop them a line at gdc2002@atriarch.com.

And finally, they promise more weekly updates of Atriarch.com. That's right, WEEKLY. Furthermore, you'll see the new unarra concept soon ... perhaps even within the next month.

I'm trying to get more people onto LiveJournal and such ... hopefully I'll see more you folks here and then we can maybe officially announce it as a great way to post Atriarch news without having to worry about fansite competition and all that bull. Because, like you all, I get lazy. =P

Hello everybody! I just created this community by shamelessly ripping the color scheme off of Atriarch.com. I figure this would be a great place to post for all the fansite people, plus folks like Nguvu, and any developers that would also be interested. Also, anyone can respond to anything said here, so this community will be able to stay on topic almost to the extreme!

Also, it'd be *really really* cool if we get could Serafina posting here, but I'd settle for Herok. =P
